Mijn droom

Alles overkomt mij
en stroomt als water langs mij heen
Ik kan niks vastnemen
het ontglipt me
Ben ik een geest of
is deze wereld voor mij

Y(oung) Poetry

In March, this year, I participated in a poetry contest named YPoetry or Young Poetry.
It was an international poetry contest for 15-17 year olds from Berlin, Antverp (where I came from), Amsterdam and London. From each city two schools would participate and in each school three students would get to the finals in Antverp.
The selction of the finalists was based on the poems they wrote in the workshop at school.
I was so happy when I was selected, since I have a passion for writing and that passion was now recognised.
At the finals we had to read our poem in front of a big audience and a jury ( Princess Mathilde of Belgium was in that jury!!!!)
The theme was 'My city' and I decided to write my poem about my family in Chile. The time I wrote this poem was right after the earthquake there and I didn't know if everybody was ok. So I wrote all of my feelings in this poem.
I'll give you the original in Dutch first and then the english version, translated by professionals (it was an international contest)

Onbekende dierbaren

And now English!

Unknown Loved Ones

White doves circle over the square
The friendly people feed them
And carry on with their life

White doves circle over the rubble
The people do not see them, pursue their search
And hope that everything is fine

Images dance before my eyes
People I don't know, yet somehow do
Where have they gone?

My heart beats like crazy
I cannot stand still
I wait and hope thet everything is fine

What do you think? Give me your reactions.
Unfortunately I didn't get any prize but sill I was very proud for getting in the finals.
This will be an experience I'll never forget

Weird things

Lately there's been happening weird things to me.
For example I've been wearing more dresses this year
and been thinking about my hair.
And then today another thing: I've actually been picking out my clothes for half an hour!

This is abnormal!
I usually don't do this stuff.
I usually just take the first thing I get out the closet and then have to wait half an hour for my sisters to get ready.

Somewhere I like this, I like dressing up but
somewhere it also seems 'not me'.

You get me?
Hah, it's a summer full of changes.

I live in Belgium
but currently you can find me in Russia.

My mother is russian and I speak (almost) fluent russian.

We are in St. Petersburg staying with my grandma and her sister.

A truly beautiful city, the formal capital of Russia.

My sister was once in Rome and she told me the architecture is very simiral.

I hear you all say: Isn't it freezing out there?

Guessed wrong: we don't know how to get out of the heat!

Seriously, if you've seen all and you don't know a good vacantion destination,

come to St. Petersburg!!

About me

Well something about myself:
I'm currently a 17-year old girl who loves:
-to read
-to sing
-to write
-to practice music
-to be with my family
-and many other things.

If you've read my blogname, you can guess another thing I like.
That's right: I'm an otaku!! ^^
But I don't just like manga and anime;
I also love to learn to learn more about Japan.
So most of the stuff I will post on this blog will be about that subject,
if you will excuse me.

So kindred spirits please leave a message.

Finally this blog.
My sisters already own their own blog (you can read them here and here)
and I thought: Why not?
I can talk here about everything I want and
nobody can tell me what to do.
Hope you will enjoy! ^^
